How Grey uses cookies, browser storage, and optional analytics to provide, secure, and improve the service.

Last updated 18 August 2026

Current position

Grey uses necessary cookies and browser storage for requested service behavior, security, and privacy choices.

With your browser consent, Grey uses Better Stack for optional website analytics, web performance measurement, and browser-error reporting. Signed-in product analytics are controlled by a separate account preference. Grey does not activate non-essential marketing technologies unless required consent has been obtained.

Optional website analytics

When you allow Measurement, Better Stack processes visits and interactions on Grey's public, sign-in, and sign-up pages using a persistent pseudonymous device identifier.

Website analytics may include page and referring URLs, query parameters, click and form-submission metadata, web performance measurements, browser errors, browser and device information, and approximate location derived from the connection IP address. Grey configures analytics to limit collection to the data described here and exclude form input values.

Grey configures Better Stack telemetry storage in the EEA. Analytics events are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to measure usage trends, investigate service performance, and improve the service, then deleted under Grey's documented retention schedule. Better Stack may perform service operations elsewhere under the transfer safeguards described in Grey's Privacy Notice. Better Stack uses application-specific browser storage that remains until you withdraw Measurement consent, clear the site's browser data, or Grey clears it. Withdrawing consent reloads the page to stop the tag. You can withdraw consent at any time through Privacy choices.

Optional product analytics

After signing in, Grey separately asks whether you want to share product usage. If you agree, page, interaction, performance, browser-error, and Grey-defined feature events can be associated with your Grey user ID, name, work email, organisation ID, and role.

Page URLs can include query parameters that reflect navigation or filter state. Grey configures analytics to limit collection to the data described here and exclude form input values.

The website Measurement choice does not automatically enable product analytics. Product analytics events are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to measure feature usage and improve the service, then deleted under Grey's documented retention schedule. You can change the account preference at any time under Privacy & communications in user settings.

Consent records

Grey asks for the browser choice again after up to 365 days. Grey records the choice, categories, applicable policy, and timestamps as reasonably necessary to demonstrate consent and comply with law.

You can change website choices through Privacy choices. Product analytics choices are recorded separately against your account.

Service cookies and storage

Authentication and security storage supports sign-in and protects service requests.

Better Stack browser storage named "_bs" holds the persistent pseudonymous analytics identifier used only after Measurement consent. It remains until you withdraw that consent, clear the site's browser data, or Grey clears it.

The Grey cookie "grey_landing_locale" remembers the preferred site language for 365 days.

The Grey cookie "sidebar_state" remembers the signed-in sidebar state for 7 days.

Grey local storage named "grey-theme" remembers the appearance choice until it is removed or the site's browser data is cleared.

For signed-in users, browser storage may retain service data for up to 12 hours.
